Arsenal have intensified their interest in Crystal Palace and England midfielder Eberechi Eze and code be set to beat Tottenham to his signature.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Gunners have made contact with Eze’s representatives over the weekend.

Romano reports that Arsenal are now informed on the conditions of a potential deal and are actively engaged in discussions regarding the player’s future.

Eze, who finished the 2024/25 season with 25 goal involvements in all competitions, has a release clause in his Crystal Palace contract set at £60 million, potentially rising to £68 million with bonuses.

Arsenal or Tottenham for Eze?

Arsenal are not alone in their pursuit of Eze with North London rivals Tottenham also keen on the 26-year-old.

Recent reports suggest that Arsenal’s interest has “turned Eze’s head,” making the Gunners the frontrunners should he decide to leave Palace this summer.

Tottenham have reportedly “backed off” in the last few hours with chairman Daniel Levy deciding against paying Eze’s £68 million release clause.

Arsenal’s need for attacking reinforcements is well documented, particularly after narrowly missing out on the Premier League title and falling short in the Champions League semi-finals.

Eze’s versatility and ability to play both centrally and on the left, along with his flair and consistent goal contributions, is seen as a potential solution to Arsenal’s search for an “X factor” in their squad.

While Arsenal continue to explore other targets, including Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, their move for Eze has gathered momentum as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
