This week is largely built around European knockout football. Tuesday and Wednesday bring the Champions League round of 16 second legs, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham all involved.

Thursday then shifts to the Europa League and Conference League second-leg ties, where Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace remain in focus.

Live stream listings for all of this week's football across Europe and beyond can be found on the relevant match pages across FootballStreams.com.

Arsenal vs Bayer Leverkusen

Champions League – Tuesday, March 17 – 20:00 GMT

Arsenal’s home second leg looks like one of the most tactically interesting ties of the week. The first leg finished 1-1, so there is very little margin for error and no real scope for passive football from either side.

The key question is whether Arsenal can control territory without opening the game up too much. Leverkusen are strong enough in transition to punish rushed possession, so this feels like a tie that could swing on composure rather than volume. If Arsenal settle the tempo early, they should be able to turn the match into the kind of structured contest they want.

Tactical cues

  • Arsenal’s ability to progress cleanly through midfield
  • Leverkusen’s threat once the game becomes stretched
  • Fine margins likely to decide the tie more than sheer chance count

Chelsea vs PSG

Champions League – Tuesday, March 17 – 20:00 GMT

Chelsea have the biggest first-leg deficit among the English sides after losing 5-2 in Paris, which changes the whole shape of the return.

That makes this one of the clearest control-versus-urgency fixtures of the week. Chelsea need pressure, territory and quick momentum. PSG need discipline, spacing and the ability to turn any Chelsea overcommitment into transition chances.

What to watch

  • Chelsea’s early attacking tempo
  • PSG’s pace once space opens up
  • Whether the tie becomes chaotic or remains controlled

Manchester City vs Real Madrid

Champions League – Tuesday, March 17 – 20:00 GMT

This is still the marquee tie of the round, even with Real Madrid carrying a 3-0 advantage into the second leg. Manchester City need a fast start, but the danger for them is obvious: Real Madrid are one of the best sides in Europe at punishing risk in knockout games.

City, whose players were given a rest day on Monday by manager Pep Guardiola, should dominate the ball, but this is really about game state. If they score early, the pressure changes. If Madrid absorb the opening spell, the tie starts to tilt decisively their way. From a viewing perspective, it is the clearest high-drama fixture on Tuesday.

Key dynamics

  • City’s territorial control and patience in possession
  • Madrid’s ability to break into open grass
  • The first goal carrying enormous weight

Barcelona vs Newcastle United

Champions League – Wednesday, March 18 – 17:45 GMT

After drawing 1-1 in the first leg, Newcastle head to Barcelona with the tie very much alive. That makes this one of Wednesday’s most compelling fixtures: big stadium, balanced scoreline and two sides who are dangerous in very different ways.

Barcelona’s priority will be control. Newcastle’s best route is intensity, disruption and making the game uncomfortable. If the match settles into long Barcelona possession spells, the home side should feel in command. If Newcastle keep forcing physical and transitional moments, it becomes much more volatile.

Match narrative

  • Barcelona’s ball retention under pressure
  • Newcastle’s pressing and second-ball aggression
  • Whether the game becomes technical or combative

Liverpool vs Galatasaray

Champions League – Wednesday, March 18 – 20:00 GMT

Liverpool trail 1-0 from the first leg, so Anfield should provide one of the week’s strongest comeback atmospheres. The task is clear enough: impose tempo, create pressure and avoid giving Galatasaray the kind of counter-attacking rhythm that can kill a tie.

From a FootballStreams perspective, this is one of the biggest fixtures of the entire midweek window. It has the right mix of jeopardy, crowd energy and tactical clarity: Liverpool pushing the game, Galatasaray trying to survive and break.

Key angles

  • Liverpool’s intensity from the opening whistle
  • Galatasaray’s ability to disrupt and slow phases down
  • How quickly Liverpool can turn pressure into goals

Tottenham Hotspur vs Atlético Madrid

Champions League – Wednesday, March 18 – 20:00 GMT

Tottenham have work to do after losing 5-2 in Madrid, and that first-leg scoreline gives this second leg a very different feel from Barcelona vs Newcastle or Arsenal vs Leverkusen. Spurs need aggression and belief; Atlético need discipline and game management.

The interesting question is whether Tottenham can make the game emotional and fast enough to put real pressure on Atlético. If it stays measured, the Spanish side should be comfortable. If Spurs score early, the tone changes immediately.

What to watch

  • Tottenham’s willingness to press high and sustain attacks
  • Atlético’s structure once they drop into shape
  • Whether the tie is still live entering the final half-hour

Midtjylland vs Nottingham Forest

Europa League – Thursday, March 19 – 17:45 GMT

Forest go into the second leg 1-0 down after losing the first meeting at home, so this is another Thursday tie with a very obvious narrative: can the English side flip the momentum away from home?

They need a more proactive performance than in the first leg, but not a reckless one. Midtjylland now have scoreboard advantage, which means Forest have to decide when to chase and when to manage the occasion.

Tactical cues

  • Forest’s balance between urgency and control
  • Midtjylland’s ability to frustrate and break rhythm
  • The importance of staying level deep into the match

AEK Larnaca vs Crystal Palace

Conference League – Thursday, March 19 – 17:45 GMT

Crystal Palace head into the return leg after a 0-0 first leg, so this tie is essentially reset. That gives Thursday a third strong English angle and makes Palace one of the more interesting teams to watch: no away deficit, but no cushion either.

The challenge is to attack with enough purpose without handing the match to AEK Larnaca on transitions. Palace should believe they have the quality to win the tie, but the first goal could completely change the emotional shape of the evening.

Key talking points

  • Palace’s attacking tempo away from home
  • AEK Larnaca’s likely compact structure
  • Whether Palace can create enough clear openings before the game tightens

Aston Villa vs Lille

Europa League – Thursday, March 19 – 20:00 GMT

Aston Villa take a 1-0 lead into the second leg after winning in France last week, which gives them a strong base without making the job easy. Lille are still very much in the tie, and the away-goal cushion is not big enough for Villa to sit back all evening.

This looks like a classic Emery-style second leg: structure first, avoid mistakes, choose the right moments to break. Villa do not need to dominate the ball, but they do need enough control to stop the match turning into long defensive stress.

Tactical focus

  • Villa’s defensive spacing in an away knockout match
  • Lille’s ability to build sustained pressure
  • The value of one composed attacking spell at the right moment
