Bayern Munich are set to intensify their pursuit of Colombian forward Luis Diaz with an improved bid to Liverpool.

The Bavarians have been the leading suitors for Diaz this summer and had an initial £58.6 million bid rejected by the Premier League champions earlier this month.

Despite Liverpool's initial stance that the Colombia international is not for sale, Bayern are confident that they can reach an agreement for his transfer this window.

The Bundesliga champions are expected to return with an improved offer reportedly worth more than £60m, with add-ons included. Liverpool have already brought in Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike this summer and are looking to raise money to facilitate the signing of Newcastle United's Alexander Isak.

The Reds were without Diaz in their 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in a pre-season friendly in Hong Kong on Friday. Manager Arne Slot confirmed it was due to the transfer speculation surrounding the player's future at the club.

The 28-year-old joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 and has 41 goals in 148 appearances for the Merseyside outfit, including netting 13 goals in 36 games on their way to Premier League triumph last season.
