Alexis Sanchez has made a dramatic return to La Liga after more than a decade away, signing a one-year contract with Sevilla on transfer deadline day.

The 36-year-old forward joins from Udinese, marking his return to Spanish football 11 years after his previous spell with Barcelona. His arrival at Sevilla follows the departure of Belgian forward Dodi Lukebakio, who sealed a €30 million move to Benfica.

Sanchez originally featured in La Liga between 2011 and 2014 with Barca, before moving on to Arsenal and later Manchester United. He went on to enjoy success in Italy with Inter Milan, followed by a second stint at Udinese, whom he re-joined last summer on a two-year deal, but his time in Serie A was cut short after just one season.

The Chile international has enjoyed an illustrious career, registering over 200 goals and 140 assists in 741 career games. He made his national team debut in April 2006 and has since earned 168 caps, scoring 51 goals.

His trophy cabinet includes a La Liga title, Copa del Rey, two FA Cups and Serie A, two Italian Cups, a European Super Cup, a Club World Cup, and two Copa America titles with Chile.

Sanchez is expected to make his debut for Sevilla after the international break, when they face Elche in La Liga. The Andalusian side currently sits 12th in the league table, having suffered two defeats and secured just one win from their opening three fixtures of the new season.
